Presidential candidates reacted on Tuesday to new information about the connections between Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and former banker Daniel Vorcaro. So far, five presidential candidates have spoken out about the case: Flavío Bolsonaro (PL), Romeu Zema (Novo), Augusto Cury (Avante), Renan Santos (Missão), and Ronaldo Caiado (PSD).
The candidates' statements include calls for the minister's resignation and impeachment, as well as demands for explanations about the case. Flavío Bolsonaro, upon arriving at the Senate to chair a session of the Public Security Committee, stated that Moraes' situation is "very serious" and said he was "shocked" by the revelation that the minister allegedly analyzed the R$131 million contract signed by Banco Master.
The revealed messages show that Vorcaro asked Moraes for protection through the Federal Police and the Attorney General's Office, as well as asking if he needed to leave the country before being arrested. It was also revealed that Minister Mendonça alerted Minister Fachin about a report containing the messages exchanged between Vorcaro and Alexandre de Moraes.
