Energy Minister Guarantees that Brussels and the European Commission "Accepted Well" the State's Return to REN

The Energy Minister, Maria da Graça Carvalho, announced that Brussels and the European Commission favorably accepted the return of the Portuguese State to the capital of REN (Rede Elétrica Nacional). This decision comes in the context of a greater appreciation of public participation in the energy sector.

According to the minister, the European Commission reacted positively to the measure because public participation in REN allows guaranteeing greater security and energy sovereignty for Portugal. This argument was decisive for the approval by European authorities.

The State's return to the capital of REN represents an inversion in relation to previous privatization policies, aligning itself with a European trend of reinforcing public control in energy infrastructures considered strategic.
