The National Maritime Authority recorded 22 dead on Portuguese beaches during the four months of the beach season, according to a balance sheet made public today. This number represents the fatalities recorded in Portuguese coastal areas over the period in question.
During this period, the AMN carried out 1,285 rescues on the country's beaches. Additionally, 2,359 first aid actions provided to bathers who required assistance were counted.
The balance sheet is the result of the surveillance and operation of the beach season, during which maritime authorities continuously monitor Portuguese beaches to ensure the safety of users.
