The Braga City Council decided to put an end to the shared e-scooter service in the city, suspending the agreements established with the sector's operators. The decision comes after a period of evaluating the implementation of these vehicles in the city.
The municipality justifies the suspension with the high number of complaints received, which included reports of accidents, the abandonment of equipment on the streets, and the unregulated use of e-scooters by users. These problems were considered too significant to maintain the service in operation.
Braga's mayor argues that the advantages provided by shared e-scooters do not outweigh the disadvantages associated with their use. The main concern relates to the safety of pedestrians in the city, which was compromised by the presence of these vehicles.
