Toffoli rule that blocked Renan's campaign could affect Nikolas, Tabata, Fufuca and Russomanno

Minister Dias Toffoli, from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), decided to ban presidential candidate Renan Santos (Missão) from participating in electoral debates and from having access to resources from the electoral and party funds. The decision was based on the lack of disclosure of his social media at the time of candidate registration, violating a rule established by electoral legislation.

The same decision could be applied to other candidates who are in the same situation. Among them are former minister André Fufuca (PP), who is running for a Senate seat from Maranhão, the vice-governor of São Paulo Felício Ramuth (MDB), in addition to at least five federal deputies and two state deputies who are running again this year.

In total, 2,741 candidates did not inform any social media profile at the time of candidate registration. The information was revealed by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo and confirmed by O GLOBO through the cross-referencing of official data. There is a possibility that some candidates do not use digital means in their campaigns, but all cases analyzed individually in the report violated the rules within the established deadline.
