The Municipality of Valongo proceeded with the installation of a provisional roundabout at the intersection of Rua da Misericórdia and Rua da Passagem, next to the Valongo facility of ULS São João. The municipal authority explained that this temporary solution will allow for the evaluation, in a real context, of traffic behavior and the impact of this change on vehicle circulation.
During the testing period, traffic flows and the way drivers adapt to the new intersection organization will be analyzed. The objective is to gather important information to evaluate the solutions to be adopted in the future.
Valongo City Hall also stated that this type of intervention will be tested in other locations in the municipality, in a logic of evaluation before the implementation of any definitive solutions. The municipal authority requested that all drivers drive with special attention and respect the signage in the area.
