Mortgage payments have the biggest increase since 2023

Expresso1 September 2026 at 16:56

Mortgage payments are set to have the biggest increase since 2023. Housing credit contracts indexed to the 12-month Euribor whose installment is updated in September will be the most penalized by this increase.

For a 250,000 euro housing loan, the increase can reach 118 euros. This value represents a significant impact on the monthly budget of Portuguese families.

The 12-month Euribor has been rising consistently, reflecting the current conditions of the European monetary market and the policies of the European Central Bank.
