Street lighting modernization across all parishes reaches 15,300 luminaires

Mais Semanário1 September 2026 at 17:54

The Póvoa de Varzim City Council is implementing a public lighting modernization plan throughout the municipality, developed in partnership with E-Redes. The intervention began in the parish of Balasar and has already reached Aver-o-Mar and Aguçadoura, and is expected to progressively extend to all parishes in the municipality.

The plan covers a total of 15,300 luminaires, representing one of the largest public infrastructure renewal operations in the municipality. The works will continue until the end of 2027.

The defined strategy favors a balanced intervention across the territory, having begun with the parish farthest from the municipal seat and progressively advancing to the denser areas. This schedule results from technical criteria established by E-Redes, which identified the areas with the highest history of failures and greatest need for urgent renewal.
