Local Health Units need up to 870 nurses to meet their human resources needs, Health Minister Ana Paula Martins confirmed. The number represents the shortage of nursing professionals identified in these health units.
According to the Health Minister, approximately two-thirds of these needs are concentrated in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region. This means that the majority of the nursing deficit in Local Health Units occurs in that region of the country.
The information was reported by Ana Paula Martins, who acknowledged the extent of the human resources problem in the health sector, particularly with regard to nursing staff.
