A fire broke out this morning at a wood pellets factory in the municipality of Alcácer do Sal, in the district of Setúbal. The alert was given at 05:42 and the flames were declared extinguished at 11:36 today, according to a source from the Sub-regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of Litoral Alentejo.
The fire occurred at the company's unit Pelletspor, located at Herdade do Castelo de Arez. The flames were confined to a silo with wood shavings and, according to the same source, no victims were reported.
The rescue operations involved 35 operatives from various fire brigades, including the firefighters of Alcácer do Sal, Torrão, Grândola and Sines, elements of the GNR and the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Alcácer do Sal. The intervention resources included 14 vehicles.
