Germany announced that it holds Moscow responsible for the drone incident that occurred in early August at Leipzig airport. In response to this situation, Berlin decided to close the Russian consulate in Bonn.
The incident involved two drones. The first was discovered in the cargo operations security zone of Leipzig airport, loaded with explosives and positioned next to several Ukrainian cargo aircraft.
Minutes later, a second drone collided with a DHL cargo plane. This second device represents an escalation of the initial incident.
The decision to close the Russian consulate in Bonn comes as a retaliatory measure by the German government, which directly attributes responsibility to Moscow for the actions involving the drones at Leipzig airport.
