Former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to Resign as MP After 'Summer Reflection'

Former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will resign as MP after a period of "summer reflection". The decision comes at a time of significant political change for the United Kingdom.

Keir Starmer, a law graduate, was leader of the Labour Party for six years, from 2020 to 2026. During his tenure as leader of the opposition, he led the party to electoral victories and established himself as a central figure in British politics.

Starmer served as Prime Minister between July 2024 and July 2026, a two-year period in the top government office. His time in office ended after strong internal pressure within the Labour Party itself, which led to his resignation as Prime Minister.

After leaving the party leadership and the position of Prime Minister, Starmer announced he will reflect during the summer before resigning his seat in Parliament, putting an end to his parliamentary political career.
