Goldenergy, the second largest company in Portugal's residential electricity market, launched the Green Team program, a nationwide initiative aimed at supporting the development of grassroots football. In a first phase, the program aims to support up to 100 football clubs and is open to any club, association, or team, with a special focus on small local clubs spread across parishes and neighborhoods from north to south of the country.
The program features Cândido Costa, former footballer, commentator, and television presenter, who has joined Goldenergy as the Green Team ambassador. In addition to participating in outreach actions through social media and Rádio Comercial, Cândido Costa will visit some of the participating clubs to personally deliver equipment to children and young people.
Registration for the program can be done by any Goldenergy customer with a connection to the club, whether coach, staff, or parents of the athletes. Enrollment is free and all clubs that meet the eligibility criteria, specifically confirming that it is an amateur team, receive personalized official equipment with the team's emblem. The program also includes exclusive access to challenges with additional prizes throughout the season.
According to Miguel Checa, General Manager of Goldenergy, the goal is to contribute to ensuring that young people continue to practice sport under the best conditions, supporting families and small local teams where young people develop social skills and learn values such as teamwork, dedication, and perseverance.
