Alverca: Over 3,400 spectators at Cegada's performances

Jornal e Rádio Valor Local Regional – Grande Lisboa, Ribatejo e Oeste1 September 2026 at 16:00

Over 3,400 people attended this year's Noites no Largo do Pelourinho, in Alverca do Ribatejo. The 13th edition of the initiative, promoted by the Cegada company, ended on August 7th, after eight nights of music that brought 3,456 spectators to Praça João Mantas, in the historic center of the city. The programming once again focused on genre diversity and the presence of national and international musicians, such as Rogério Charraz, Adam Ben Ezra, Cláudia Zarro, O Bordão Cabo-Verdiano, Voz Terra, Quarteto Dela, Feelings Jazz Orchestra, and Bia Souza e o Bando da Lua, crossing fado, jazz, and different sounds of Lusophone and Cape Verdean music.

Vladimiro Cruz, responsible for the musical programming, noted that the response of over three thousand people confirms the relevance of this programming for the community. The closing performance was by Quarteto Dela, formed by resident musicians from Cegada, who received as guests Rogério Charraz and Djone Santos, musician from O Bordão Cabo-Verdiano.

The holding of the performances also had an impact on the demand for the Municipal Museum – Alverca Nucleus, which remained exceptionally open during the nights of the initiative and received 306 visitors. For Rui Dionísio, artistic director of Cegada, Noites no Largo do Pelourinho are more than a concert programming, representing the role that culture can have in how people live and rediscover the city.

With the initiative concluded, Cegada is now preparing the return, in September, of the programming at Teatro Estúdio Ildefonso Valério. Until the end of the year, ACTA – A Companhia de Teatro do Algarve is scheduled to perform in Alverca with "Oleanna," by David Mamet, performed by Luís Vicente and Tânia Silva, as well as a new original creation. "Eu Vou, Tu Vais, Ele Vai," based on the work by Jenny Erpenbeck, with dramaturgy by Marta Dias and direction by Rui Dionísio, is scheduled to premiere on November 6th.
