Almost a week after the devastating floods that hit Nepal, rescue teams still cannot access several areas in the north of the country. According to a UN report, "riverbank erosion, damaged bridges, road failures, and electricity and communication service disruptions" are the main obstacles to reaching the most affected regions.
The Nepali Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday that the death toll in the country rose to 1,010. Approximately 4,000 people remain missing, and roughly 10,000 families have been impacted by the tragedy, according to the organization's data.
Communities in the districts of Rasuwa and Nuwakot, severely hit by landslides and floods, face shortages or total lack of essential supplies, according to information from Nepal's National Disaster Reduction and Management Authority.
