Flavio's campaign monitors Cury's growth, but avoids attacks over concerns of increasing opponent's exposure

Senator Flavio Bolsonaro's (PL-RJ) campaign is closely monitoring the growth of writer and presidential candidate Augusto Cury (Avante) on social media. The digital popularity index (IPD) measured by Quaest showed that Cury jumped from 37.8 to 54.5 points in one week, on a scale of 0 to 100, which alarmed Bolsonaro's team.

Given this advance, Flavio's campaign has started gathering data on the motivation behind Cury's growth and researching information about his trajectory and political connections. The internal guidance, however, is not to turn the Avante candidate into a direct target, at least for now.

The assessment within the PL campaign is that an offensive at this moment could expand Cury's exposure and confer upon him a prominence that the campaign itself does not yet acknowledge. Bolsonaro's allies believe the race remains polarized between the party and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the current main adversary in the race for the Palacio do Planalto.
