Miguel Arsénio, athlete from Paço dos Negros, achieved the best ever classification of a Portuguese athlete in a 100-kilometre race of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc by finishing second in the CCC, one of the most emblematic races of this event held in the French Alps. The runner completed the 106 kilometres of the race in 10 hours, 27 minutes and 25 seconds, finishing just five minutes behind the winner, Italian Cristian Minoggio. This result allowed him to secure a HOKA Golden Ticket, thus ensuring direct access to one of the most prestigious ultratrail races in the world.
With this high-level performance, Miguel Arsénio earned the status of best Portuguese ever in the CCC and directly won a spot in the Western States Endurance Run 100, taking place in 2027. The athlete has already confirmed his presence at the start of the American race, which represents a historic milestone for Portuguese trail running.
The Western States 100 is considered one of the most historic and prestigious races in world ultratrail. Created in 1974, it is the oldest 100-mile race in the world, which gives Miguel Arsénio's participation an even more special meaning for national sport. This achievement comes following a remarkable journey that already included impressive results in major international races.
