The Rotary Club of Figueira da Foz will hold a lecture entitled "EXPAT – A Life between Cultures" next Thursday, on the 3rd, at 9:30 PM, at Assembleia Figueirense. The event is open to the public and free admission.
The lecture will be presented by Charmain Gibbens, who will share her experience of living across different countries and cultures. Originally from South Africa, with Irish roots, she currently resides in Figueira da Foz, where she is integrated in Portugal.
During the session, the guest will address her adaptation journey, the linguistic and cultural challenges faced, as well as the role of expatriates in building more open, supportive, and integrated communities. Her personal testimony will show how the encounter between cultures can generate mutual understanding and human enrichment.
The event is part of Rotary's mission to create lasting impacts and promote intercultural dialogue, valuing diversity as a unifying force, thus reinforcing the spirit of international friendship and community service that characterizes the Rotary movement.
