The Board of Lusitano Ginásio Clube announced that it will not participate in any event organized by the Évora Football Association (AFE), including the event preceding the Super Cup final on August 2nd, where the club's B team faces GD de Portel, nor at the AFE Centenary Gala scheduled for August 4th.
The club justifies this decision with the demonstrated inability of the AFE President to provide explanations regarding positions taken towards Lusitano, considered incompatible with the dignity of the office. Lusitano also points to a lack of institutional respect due to other board members of the AFE being asked to meet with the president of Lusitano without the presence of the AFE President himself.
The Évora club emphasizes its status as a founding member of the association and states that it will not be represented at any AFE event as long as the current president does not personally provide the appropriate explanations or leaves the position. Lusitano states that whoever does not respect the institution, its history, board, athletes, and members does not deserve the club's respect.
The president of Lusitano, Pedro Caldeira, refused to comment to Rádio Campanário, referring to the statement published on social media. Rádio Campanário also attempted to contact the AFE president, with a time being scheduled for the conversation, but it was not possible to speak with the official.
