The Alicante-based tech company Golden Owl warned of a possible shift of migration surges to Melilla or the Canary Islands, should the border in Castillejos remain occupied by security forces. The company had already analyzed the factors that triggered the migration surge in late July in Ceuta and had warned of another, of smaller proportions, which occurred on August 15.
According to a report by Golden Owl, there is a high probability of a new migration mobilization occurring during the month of September, with the 2nd, 3rd, and 8th of that month being pointed out as moments when new appeals could find a significant response.
The report also analyzes the informational narratives surrounding the Ceuta crisis and identifies who the main beneficiaries and losers were. The company maintains that Morocco, Russia, China, and the far-right emerged as the main beneficiaries of this situation, while the Government of Spain, the European Union, and the migrants themselves were identified as the main losers.
