The Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo André de Resende will play their home games in the Liga Betclic Feminina 2026/2027 at the Pavilhão Municipal de Montemor-o-Novo. This decision comes after the club searched, without success, for a solution in Évora that would allow them to meet the demanding requirements of the main national women's basketball competition.
Participation in this league represents a historic debut for GDRAR, which achieved for the first time access to the highest level of national basketball. Since the confirmation of the spot, the club has carried out various steps to find suitable conditions in Évora, analyzing different possibilities, conducting inspections and establishing contacts with several entities, including a private entity.
Given the impossibility of gathering in the city of Évora the necessary conditions, the club found in Montemor-o-Novo the alternative to achieve the objective. The Câmara Municipal de Montemor-o-Novo expressed its willingness to host the team, make the necessary adaptations to the pavilion and create the conditions required to host the competition.
The 2026/2027 season will be marked by an unprecedented moment in the history of GDRAR and Alentejo basketball. The club embraces this new stage with ambition and with the intention of representing not only GDRAR, but also Évora and the Alentejo region, also hoping to count on the support of the local population of Montemor-o-Novo.
