Amélia de Jesus won 51 million euros on the EuroMillions in 2008 and, almost two decades later, admits that fortune has not always brought her what she expected. The Euromillionaire from Marco de Canaveses continues to live in the place where she grew up, in the town of Ariz, but says she is tired of people who approach her because of the money. Her message is straightforward: "Anyone who comes for the money gets a banana." Despite the material changes that fortune allowed, such as luxury cars, houses and jewelry, she acknowledges she was happier when she had little.
Among the acquisitions is an exclusive Ferrari with several elements made specifically for Amélia, including custom upholstery. The buying and selling of luxury cars is pointed out as one of the areas where she admits having lost money. The Euromillionaire's financial life was also marked by her second marriage, having once claimed in court that she had been pressured, threatened and assaulted by her former partner to transfer 13 million euros to him. Today, however, she portrays the relationship differently, stating that "he had no right to anything, but I gave it to him because I wanted to" and that "he is a good man."
Family memories also occupy space in her account. Amélia speaks about her mother and first husband, both already deceased, and reveals she has also begun preparing her own funeral in advance. One of the coffins, intended for her mother, came from the Amazon and cost 200 thousand euros. The Euromillionaire says she has already taken care of funeral-related elements and states: "My dear mother has waited many years for me. I don't want to die just yet." She also believes she may win a prize again, saying: "I have premonitions."
