The presidential candidate for the Mission party, Renan Santos, announced he will appeal the decision by Justice of the Superior Electoral Court Dias Toffoli that restricted the digital campaign of his ticket. The decision prohibited the publication of campaign content on 16 accounts reported to the Electoral Justice outside the established deadline.
The measure also blocked transfers from the Electoral Fund and prevented the candidate from participating in debates on radio, television, podcasts, and other media. Only one website and one account on social media X reported within the deadline may remain active. The decision does not prevent the campaign from continuing on the streets.
Renan Santos classified the decision as unilateral and absurd. According to Dias Toffoli, one of the accounts reported outside the deadline has nearly two and a half million followers and was already being used for electoral propaganda. The justice understood that the late reporting of the accounts could provide undue advantage to the campaign and harm equality among candidates.
Non-compliance with the decision may result in fines of up to R$50,000 per act for the candidate.
