The general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, accused today Pedro Sánchez of "seeking a controversy with the monarchy" by proposing the king's visit to Ceuta. Belarra stated that Sánchez intends to use this controversy to "try to go unnoticed" in the face of criticism of his management of the humanitarian crisis in the Spanish city. According to the Podemos leader, the humanitarian crisis in Ceuta was "provoked by the Government's own inaction." The accusation arises in the context of a visit by King Felipe VI to the city, which Belarra considers an attempt by the prime minister to divert attention from the problems at the border.
