The GNR arrested 108 people in the district of Faro between August 24 and 30, as part of operations to prevent crime, enforce road traffic regulations, and promote public safety. Of the arrests, 34 were for driving under the influence of alcohol, 23 for driving without a legal license, and 12 for drug trafficking. The actions aimed to combat violent crime and public safety in general.
During the operations, the military seized 905 doses of hashish and 115 doses of cocaine, as well as an airsoft pistol. Also seized were 214 jerrycans of fuel, each with a capacity of 20 liters, totaling 4,280 liters, and ten drums of engine oil for boat engines.
During road traffic enforcement, 475 violations were detected, the most common being lack of mandatory periodic inspection with 74 fines and 31 cases of speeding. Improper use of mobile phones while driving resulted in ten violations and lack of civil liability insurance resulted in 23 fines.
During the same period, 152 road traffic accidents were recorded in the district of Faro, resulting in one seriously injured person and 20 slightly injured. The GNR announced that it will continue to develop prevention and enforcement actions to strengthen road safety and public tranquility in the region.
