The president of the Municipal Chamber of Câmara de Lobos, Celso Bettencourt, participated in the solemn session commemorating the 148th anniversary of the PSP Regional Command of Madeira, held at the Madeira Press Museum. During the event, Bettencourt highlighted the importance of cooperation between municipalities and security forces in combating insecurity in the municipality.
The mayor stated that "there is no full freedom without security," defending that security constitutes one of the essential functions of the State. This declaration comes in the context of a tightening of the noose on the insecurity felt in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, which has been facing growing problems of crime and violence.
The ceremony marked nearly five decades of PSP history in the region, recognizing the fundamental role of the police in maintaining public order and protecting Madeiran citizens. The event brought together local and regional authorities to celebrate this occasion and reinforce the commitment to collaboration between the different entities responsible for security on the island.
