Eleven countries of the European Union sent a letter to the high representative of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, expressing their willingness to end the need for unanimity in EU foreign policy decisions. This position comes as a response to the so-called "obstructive" vetos that have hindered joint decision-making.
The signatory countries are Austria, Denmark, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Sweden. Together, these eleven member states represent a significant part of the European bloc.
The information was revealed by Euronews, which reported the existence of this letter sent to the head of European diplomacy. The objective of the signatory countries is to reformulate the decision-making process in foreign policy matters, making it more agile and less vulnerable to blockades by individual states.
