The Directorate-General for the Arts (DGArtes) will support 71 artistic projects with approximately 1.885 million euros under the 2025 Programming Project Support program. The program received 216 applications, of which 145 were not supported, with the vast majority (110) receiving no funding due to exhaustion of the available budget. Seven applications were also rejected for scoring below the required minimum of 60%.
Of the 71 supported projects, 47 are music, 12 theater, 6 dance, 4 street arts, and 2 circus. Geographically, the Center region stands out with 21 projects, 17 from the North and 14 from Greater Lisbon, in addition to projects in the Algarve, Alentejo, Azores, Setúbal Peninsula, and Madeira. Among the supported projects are the 2027 edition of A Porta Festival in Leiria, the Semibreve Festival in Braga, and the 18th Quebrajazz Festival in Coimbra.
The 2025 Project Support Program has a total allocation of 13.35 million euros, the same value as in 2023 and 2024. The application deadline was extended until April 2 due to bad weather that affected the artistic sector, especially in the Center region. Representative organizations in the Culture sector have been repeatedly warning about delays in opening the calls for proposals and the underfunding of DGArtes.
This year, results of the Internationalization program were also released, in which 115 projects were supported, while 41 were left without support due to exhaustion of funds, although they had scored above 60%.
