Chestnut producers in the village of Cova de Lua, in the municipality of Bragança, suffered significant losses due to the destruction of chestnut trees caused by deer. The communal lands commission of the region held the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests responsible for the damage caused to local production. After protests and calls for intervention, permission was granted for the possible culling of deer in the area. This situation arises in the context of a conflict between hunting activity and chestnut production in this Trás-os-Montes village.
