The 36-year-old man was arrested in Japan after killing around 30 hamsters in a hotel. The suspect is an employee at an institute in Iwate, in northern Japan. He had already been arrested weeks earlier for another similar case involving the death of approximately 20 rodents.
According to police, two young women participated in the episodes, which occurred in "love hotels", establishments intended for short stays for couples. One of the women, aged 20, is alleged to have participated in the most recent case. Both women were also detained by authorities.
The suspect was charged on Monday for the "unjustified killing" of the approximately 30 hamsters in March. During the investigation, police found videos of the rodent massacre and messages exchanged between those involved on the man's phone.
