Nepal rescues one of three missing Portuguese in Himalayan floods

One of the three missing Portuguese in Nepal was rescued alive, confirmed this Tuesday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Two Portuguese women remain missing following the tragedy.

The floods and landslides that devastated the region were caused by the collapse of a glacier. The natural disaster severely affected both Nepal and China.

The number of dead in both countries has exceeded 1,000, according to the latest known official tolls. The tragedy particularly affects the mountainous regions of the Himalayas.

The Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the situation and providing consular assistance to the families of the citizens involved.
