The Língua Terra festival takes place in Setúbal under the motto "Connecting Worlds", promoting musical encounters between Portugal, Brazil and Cape Verde. The program is mostly featuring women from different generations, geographies and musical languages. The event was created by Mónica Soares Cosas, who assumes the artistic direction, with organization by the City Council.
The opening is scheduled for September 11, at 21:00, with Brazilian singer, songwriter and producer Josyara, who presents the "AVIA Acoustic" format of voice and guitar, especially created for this edition which is part of the Bocagianas 2026 Celebrations. The concert features the special participation of Cape Verdean Lucibela, an artist marked by the interpretation and renewal of morna and coladeira. At 21:50, Portuguese Gisela João presents the show "Inquieta", a tribute to Portuguese protest music with songs by José Afonso, José Mário Branco and Fernando Lopes-Graça.
On September 12, between 15:00 and 17:00, the workshop "Bloco Pandeiro LX – Brazilian Pandeiro" takes place, led by percussionist Juninho Ibituruna, providing a practical experience in the universe of Brazilian percussion. The festival closes at 18:00 with a samba circle conducted by Nani Medeiros, a singer from Porto Alegre based in Lisbon, who crosses samba, choro and song in her artistic journey.
Over six editions, the event has featured artists such as Bonga, Paulo Flores, Elida Almeida, Adriana Calcanhotto, Salvador Sobral, Mart'nália, Mayra Andrade, Karyna Gomes and Tiganá Santana. Mónica Soares Cosas states that the festival starts from the Portuguese language to create bridges between Africa, Europe and Latin America. Tickets for the concerts cost 20 euros, the samba circle costs 5 euros, and the workshop is free upon registration at the Luísa Todi Municipal Forum.
