Cascais inaugurated this Tuesday the new Francisco Pinto Balsemão Avenue, thus paying tribute to this figure of Portuguese life. The ceremony marks the attribution of the former prime minister's name to one of the main arteries of the municipality.
Francisco Pinto Balsemão was prime minister of Portugal, having held the office during the PREC period. In addition to his political career, he was also a very prominent businessman in the country.
Balsemão was the founder of two of the most important Portuguese media outlets: the newspaper Expresso and the television channel SIC. These achievements consolidated his position as one of the most relevant figures in Portuguese political and business life.
