PSP flags 284 elderly people and identifies 182 in risk situations

SAPO Notícias1 September 2026 at 09:34

The Public Security Police (PSP) carried out the 14th edition of the operation "Solidarity Has No Age – PSP with the Elderly," which has been running since July 27 and will continue until September 25, covering the entire national territory.

During this operation, the PSP managed to flag 284 people over 65 years old. Of this total, 182 elderly people were identified in situations of social risk, which represents a significant proportion of the cases identified.

This PSP initiative essentially aims to protect and support the elderly population, particularly those who are in vulnerable situations. The operation combines outreach actions with the elderly and the identification of possible cases that require social intervention.

The previous edition of the operation demonstrated the importance of this type of police initiative in monitoring and protecting older citizens, allowing for coordination with social services to ensure the necessary support for the identified individuals.
