The 21-year-old Belgian striker Lucas Stassin will head to Sevilla to play on loan in La Liga. The player, who belongs to Saint-Étienne, is traveling to Andalusia for medical tests and to sign a contract with the Spanish club, with Sevilla having an option to purchase at the end of the loan. The information was reported by journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The young striker was linked to Benfica over the summer, when the red club was looking for alternatives in attack following movements in the transfer market. Stassin was pointed to as a potential solution to strengthen the Eagles' forward line.
However, the player was not in Benfica's plans. The board led by Rui Costa never made any formal offer to Saint-Étienne, with no negotiations or concrete moves to secure the signing of the Belgian player for the red first team.
