Colombian footballer Gustavo Puerta is heading to Greece to represent Olympiacos, after initially showing interest in playing for Benfica. The transfer is being made through Nottingham Forest, the English club that holds the player's economic rights.
Puerta, who plays as a midfielder, was in Benfica's plans but the negotiation did not materialize. Olympiacos, the Greek club, ended up being the Colombian's final destination, and he will now try to make his mark in Hellenic football.
The player is expected today in Greece to undergo routine medical examinations, a mandatory step before the official formalization of the contract with Olympiacos.
With this transfer, the Colombian midfielder joins yet another club in his career, after having been with Nottingham Forest, which held his economic rights and facilitated the negotiation with the Greek club.
