The inflation rate in the euro area rose to 3.3% in August, according to Eurostat data. This value represents an acceleration of prices in the region.
The increase in inflation makes it even more likely that the European Central Bank will raise the interest rate at its next meeting. Markets had already anticipated this possibility even before the data was released.
The ECB's decision to raise interest rates occurs in a context of growing inflationary pressures in the euro area, which has faced difficulties in controlling the rise in prices in recent months.
