The 27th edition of the Medieval Days in Castro Marim took place between August 26 and 30, attracting thousands of people to the historic center, the Castle and São Sebastião Fortress. The Municipality of Castro Marim records a substantial increase in the number of visitors and a growth in the attraction of foreign tourists, consolidating the event as one of the main cultural initiatives in the Algarve.
The official opening was attended by the Minister of Culture, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, at the Church of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires. The municipality reinforced its commitment to security with more private security personnel, rapid medical intervention teams with defibrillators, firefighters and security forces, as well as a communication system for coordination between all services present at the venue.
Castro Marim Castle, classified as National Heritage, once again played a central role in the programming, hosting representations of over 45 crafts and trades, medieval horse tournaments with special participation from the Guarda Nacional Republicana, exhibitions and medieval banquets that sold out quickly. The event featured around 30 national and international groups, some performing exclusively at the festival, and the traditional parades took place on the first and last day.
The family component included children's animation spaces, workshops and games, with the mascot Marim integrated into the program. On the environmental front, the use of clay cups was maintained to reduce waste. The Municipality makes a positive assessment of the edition and announces that the 2027 edition will bring new features.
