Fire broke out at pellet factory in the municipality of Alcácer do Sal

A fire broke out today at a wood pellet factory in the municipality of Alcácer do Sal, in the district of Setúbal, without causing any victims. The fire, which was reported at 05:42, broke out at the facility of the company Pelletspor located at Herdade do Castelo de Arez.

According to the Sub-regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of Litoral Alentejo, the flames are confined to a silo containing wood shavings, and it has been possible to circumscribe the fire to this structure.

The firefighting operation mobilizes firefighters from the fire brigades of Alcácer do Sal, Torrão, Grândola and Sines, as well as GNR military personnel. In total, 31 operatives are on the ground supported by 11 vehicles.
