Davis's defense insisted during the trial on the lack of physical evidence directly linking him to the crime. However, the jury rejected the defense's arguments and reached a guilty verdict after deliberation.
Tupac Shakur was shot on September 7, 1996, inside a car in Las Vegas, after watching a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon. The rapper died six days later, at age 25, in an incident that for decades remained unsolved.
The case only advanced significantly when Davis wrote a book in 2010 about his participation in the incident, which led authorities to reopen the investigation. The trial took place almost 30 years after the murder, with the sentence to be announced later.
