President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed this Monday (31), at the Palace of the Presidency, a decree that establishes new rules for the sale and transfer of tickets for cultural and sporting events. The measure aims to combat the so-called digital scalping and expand the protection of Brazilian consumers.
Under the new rules, ticket sellers must adopt mechanisms to prevent copying and falsification of tickets, in addition to making it more difficult for them to circulate through unauthorized means. The systems must also allow consumers to verify the authenticity, traceability, and security of the tickets purchased.
According to the director of the Department of Consumer Protection and Defense, Daniel Carnaúba, the decree also establishes rules to guarantee access to half-price tickets, regulate virtual and in-person queues, and regulate the convenience fees charged when purchasing tickets.
The text also provides for the exercise of the right of withdrawal and refund in situations provided for in the regulations. The measure seeks to protect consumers from abusive practices and guarantee fairer conditions of access to events throughout the country.
