The Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, which currently has 10 thousand students and six schools, will be transformed into the University of Bragança and the Interior North. This decision represents a significant change for the Trás-os-Montes higher education institution.
The mayor of Mirandela, a municipality belonging to the district of Bragança, expressed total support for the creation of the new university. According to his statements, this transformation represents an "old longing" of the region that is finally being fulfilled.
The Interior North region, which includes the district of Bragança, has been defending for many years the need for a public university that meets the higher education training needs of the local population and contributes to the development of the territory.
