DGRSP bans creatine and supplements in prisons

Observador31 August 2026 at 21:26

The Directorate-General for Reintegration and Prison Services (DGRSP) issued a director-general order prohibiting the entry of dietary supplements in Portuguese prisons. The ban covers supplements in powdered, granulated or compressed form.

The measure was applauded by the Prison Guards Union, which expressed support for the prison authorities' decision.

The ban aims to control access to these products within prison facilities, where their circulation raised security and regulatory concerns.

The DGRSP director-general's order thus establishes new rules for the entry of food products and supplements in prisons, reinforcing the operating standards of correctional facilities.
