With the departure of rector Antonio Claudio Lucas da Nóbrega to take the State Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Universidade Federal Fluminense will be led by vice rector Fábio Passos until the new directorate is sworn in. The change is scheduled for the second week of September.
The invitation to head the state secretariat was made by acting governor, Ricardo Couto de Castro, and announced at a ceremony at Guanabara Palace last Friday, the 28th. Nóbrega states that he will begin the formal transition process for the new administration before leaving the position.
The new directorate of UFF was chosen in June to administer the institution for the next four-year term. According to the university, the rector's leave will only be formalized after the beginning of the transition process, when he will effectively pass the position to the vice rector.
