Rock in Rio starts next Friday, the 4th, and runs until September 13th. The festival is expected to attract around one hundred thousand people on each of the seven days of the event. In the midst of an environment of high circulation and large crowds, it is necessary to double your attention to reduce vulnerabilities and avoid losses.
Ana Leda Tavares, superintendent of Fraud Prevention at Itaú Unibanco, highlights that consumer awareness is a fundamental pillar for avoiding scams. According to her, fraud at large events usually combines social engineering, a sense of urgency, and opportunities that seem too good to be true.
The specialist states that, more important than memorizing each type of scam, is to develop a cautious stance when faced with suspicious approaches. She recalls that technology is an important ally, but consumer attention is also part of the protection network against fraud.
If someone is a victim of a scam during the festival, the guidance is to immediately contact the bank through official channels and file a police report.
