The mayor of Câmara de Lobos, Celso Bettencourt, thanked all those involved yesterday for their efforts in fighting the wildfire that broke out on the night of August 29th in the area of Furneira, in the parish of Estreito.

The alert was received at 11:27 PM, and response resources were immediately mobilized to the fire. The mayor highlighted the rapid and effective response of the firefighters on the ground.

Celso Bettencourt also emphasized the coordination between the Regional Civil Protection Service and the Municipal Civil Protection as a fundamental factor in the success of the firefighting operations.

The fire occurred in a context of high temperatures in the region, which have favored the occurrence of wildfires on the island of Madeira.
