Poland has become a model for the European right on issues of money, rearmament and immigration. The Law and Justice party (PiS) won the October 2015 elections with an absolute majority, demonstrating that firmness on immigration has become electorally essential. According to political scientist Aleksander Szczerbiak, the political class drew a clear conclusion from this experience: demonstrating firmness on migration issues is fundamental to winning votes. This Polish approach has been studied and replicated by right-wing parties in other European countries, which seek to emulate PiS's electoral success through similar positions on these issues.
