The campaign for President Lula's re-election defined a new strategy to attract undecided voters, who, according to internal polls, represent 40% of the electorate in spontaneous polling. The order from PT leadership is to decentralize the campaign, with a focus on intensifying trips to the country's main electoral districts and mobilizing activists on the streets.
Lula's travel itinerary prioritizes São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, and Minas Gerais. In Minas Gerais, the outlook is positive for the party, as gubernatorial candidate Patrus Ananias improved in voting intention polls.
The campaign's goal is to have a coordinator in each Brazilian municipality to do grassroots outreach, go door to door, guide the population on how to vote and monitor the election. The strategy also includes encouraging reports of vote buying through the TSE hotline.
The new phase of the campaign comes after a week of votes on priority agendas in the National Congress, which could boost Lula's campaign.
