Anacom applied a fine of one million euros to the operators Meo, Nos and Vodafone for advertising practice in television program recordings. The decision was made by the National Communications Authority within the scope of a process that also involved the Competition Authority, which conducted a parallel process on the same issue.
The three telecommunications operators have already announced they will appeal the decision, taking the case to the Santarém Court. The companies contest the application of the fine and intend to reverse the sanction through the courts.
According to the available information, this practice affected approximately three million Portuguese families, who were penalized by the inclusion of advertising in television content recordings made available by the operators. The issue raises concerns about consumer rights in this type of service.
