The Elevador da Glória, in Lisbon, will be completely replaced by an entirely new model. Carris, responsible for the elevator, announced that the new infrastructure will be "safer", will comply with all current regulations and will use the best technology available on the market.
The return to operation of the historic elevator is planned only for 2029, which represents a prolonged period of shutdown. This complete rehabilitation comes after a period of problems and restrictions that affected the elevator's operation.
Carris guarantees that the new version of the Elevador da Glória will be significantly different from the current one, both in terms of safety and compliance with current regulations. The project plans to use cutting-edge technology to ensure a more reliable service.
